Statewide Organizations Honor Woodson For Leadership in Education Nashville, Tenn. – State Senator Jamie Woodson (R-Knoxville) was honored this evening by two organizations for her support of education in Tennessee. The Tennessee Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has selected Woodson to receive the 2007 Tennessee PTA Outstanding Legislator award. “This is a prestigious award that we present every year to an outstanding legislator who helps secure adequate laws for the care and protection of children and youth,” explained Evelyn Pelletier, President of the Tennessee PTA. “We are honored to present this award to Senator Woodson and applaud her commitment to provide quality education for our children.” In a separate event, Senator Woodson was also honored by the Tennessee Independent Colleges and Universities Association (TICUA). At the 51st TICUA Annual Meeting Gala Reception, she was presented the William Baird Legislative Leadership Award. “We are honored to present this award to Senator Woodson,” said Dr. Claude Pressnell, President of TICUA. “She has worked diligently to make sure that students attending TICUA member institutions are treated fairly in the State’s student aid programs.” “I am deeply humbled to receive these honors from two outstanding organizations,” Woodson said. “I consider my opportunity to serve in our State Senate an enormous privilege, and will continue to work diligently to increase educational opportunities for our citizens.” ### |
