Tracy Runs in Washington D.C.
Local Lawmaker completes the Marine Corps Marathon in 4 hours, 47 minutes and 45 seconds

Nashville, Tenn.  – Sen. Jim Tracy (R-Shelbyville) recently participated in the 2007 Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C.

The first Marine Corps Marathon drew nearly 2,000 participants in 1976.  This year 20,674 runners completed the 26-mile course.  The marathon has become the fourth largest in the United States and the seventh largest in the world.

Tracy, competing in his third marathon, finished the route in 4 hours, 47 minutes and 45 seconds.

A former NCAA Basketball Official, Tracy was elected to the State Senate in 2004.  He is the current chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee.  He also serves on Senate Education Committee, the Senate State and Local Government Committee and the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR).

Tracy has sponsored a number of health related bills while serving the 16th Senatorial District.  In 2007, he led a bipartisan coalition to help guide the “Non-Smoker Protection Act” through the legislature.
