Adult Education Task Force Honors Tracy
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Sen. Jim Tracy (R-Shelbyville)
has been honored with a Leadership Award
from the Tennessee Adult Education Task Force.
“A key issue for adult education this year was funding,” stated Teresa
Smith, Chairman of the Task Force. “Senator Tracy’s support and
outstanding contribution this legislative session will greatly help us
work toward our goals.”
The Division of Adult Education of the Department of Labor and Workforce
Development seek to provide educational opportunities for adults desiring:
“basic skills upgrades, General Educational Development (GED) exam
preparation, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) and basic
workplace computer skills.” Services are offered at Adult Learning Centers
across the state.
“I am truly grateful for this honor,” said Tracy. “The Adult Education
Task Force has an important mission. I look forward to continue working
with Teresa and the Task Force in expanding adult educational
opportunities in Tennessee.”
Elected to the Senate in 2004, Tracy serves on the Senate Education
Committee. He is the Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee, a
member of the Senate State and Local Government Committee and a member of
