Tracy Honored by TSBA

Nashville, Tenn.State Sen. Jim Tracy (R-Shelbyville) received the Tennessee School Board Association’s (TSBA) 2007 Legislative Award this morning at the annual TSBA legislative breakfast.

“Senator Tracy has established himself as a key leader on education issues,” said Amy Martin, President-elect of the TSBA and member of the Bedford County Board of Education.
“I am pleased and honored to be able to present this year’s TSBA Legislative Award to Senator Tracy.”

Organized in 1939, the TSBA is a statewide organization that assists local school boards in areas such as legislation, school law, policies and community relations.

The association regularly conducts training sessions, workshops, seminars and various other meetings to inform school board members and administrators about key issues and topics affecting public information.

“I am truly humbled by receiving this honor from a distinguished organization like the TSBA,” commented Tracy.  “It is a privilege for me to serve in the state Senate, and I look forward to working hard to increase educational opportunities for the citizens of Tennessee.”

Currently serving his first term as a state Senator, Tracy is the Chairman of the Senate Transportation Committee.  Tracy is also a member of the Senate Education Committee, Senate State and Local Government Committee and the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations (TACIR). He represents Bedford, Moore and Rutherford Counties.
