Hamblen County Schools Awarded Grant
$49,900 coming from the state to enhance school safety
Nashville, Tenn. – Sen. Steve Southerland (R-Morristown) along with the Department of Education announced today that Hamblen County Schools will benefit from a state grant.
“This is great news for our schools,” said Southerland. “I know that Hamblen County will make sure that these funds go a long way to help our children.”
The Hamblen County School system will be receiving $49,900 in state funds from the Safe Schools Act.
The Safe Schools Act 1998 makes state funds available for the enhancement of safety in Tennessee schools. Earlier this year the General Assembly appropriated $4.84 million for the program this school year.
“I understand the importance of school safety,” continued Southerland, “We have do everything in our ability to ensure that our children our safe.”
