Pigeon Forge Student is Senate Page (NASHVILLE, TN), April 7, 2008 – A local Pigeon Forge student, Turner Whaley, has served as a Senate Page in the Tennessee State Senate. Whaley served at the invitation of State Senator Raymond Finney (R-Maryville). He is a fourth grade student in Ms. Jolley’s class in the Pigeon Forge Primary School. "Turner is an extraordinary and talented young man,” said Senator Finney. “I enjoyed working with him and am pleased that he had the opportunity to serve as a page for our State Senate. I have sponsored programs for our local students, like Turner, to serve as pages for the State Senate with hopes that they will take back a desire to help their community through running for elected office, volunteer service, or just in being an informed voter in the future." Turner is the son of Jimbo Whaley, an accomplished, well-known Bluegrass artist, with his group, Jimbo Whaley and Greenbrier. He was accompanied to Nashville by his mother, Giner Whaley and his grandmother Sue Brown. Turner plays the mandolin. A few days after serving as a Senate page, Turner appeared with his father's group, Jimbo Whaley and Greenbrier, in a performance in Gatlinburg. Senator Finney represents the 8th senatorial district which includes Blount and Sevier Counties ###
