Senators Woodson and Burchett present enhancement grant check to Pellissippi State Community College

(NASHVILLE, TN), March 18, 2008 -- Senate Education Chairman Jamie Woodson (R-Knoxville) and State Senator Tim Burchett (R-Knoxville) has presented Pellissippi State Community College with a community enhancement grant check.  The Knoxville lawmakers presented the check to Dr. Allen Edwards, President of the college for use in the Bagwell Arts Center.

“Pellissippi State is vital part of our higher education community, providing tremendous opportunities for students,” said Senator Woodson.  “We are fortunate to have this college in Knoxville and know that we will see a great impact on our local communities due to creative workforce training provided there.”

The grant will go for the purchase of equipment for the Bagwell Arts Center, a state of the art media and fine arts facility at the College.   The center provides training in a wide variety of programs from graphic design to television production.

“This grant will help open new doors for students,” added Burchett.  “It will also provide the region with a community of artists that contribute to the cultural heritage that makes our state a great place to live.  We are pleased to present them with funds to assist them in their efforts.”
