Alzheimer’s Task Force Bill Passes Senate
Nashville, Tenn. – Sen. Tim Burchett (R-Knoxville) is proud to announce that the Senate has passed Senate Bill 826. The bill, which is co-sponsored by all 32 state Senators, creates a 19-member Tennessee Alzheimer’s Disease Task Force (TADTF).
“This is a devastating disease that has affected many families including mine,” said Burchett. “It is an honor for me to be the prime sponsor of this legislation.”
The task force is charged with assessing the impact of Alzheimer's on Tennesseans, examining the existing resources that address the needs of people with Alzheimer's, and developing a strategy to mobilize a state response to the disease.
“My hope is that the task force will provide support, in some way, to caregivers,” continued Burchett.
The Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 826 on April 12th . The companion bill will be heard in the House Health and Human Resources Committee on Tuesday, April 23rd. Before becoming law, the House must pass the bill and the Governor must sign it.
