Burchett Bill to Prohibit Robo Calls Moves Forward Nashville, Tenn. – State Sen. Tim Burchett (R-Knoxville) has sponsored SB 125 to enact the “Tennesseans’ Right-To-Privacy Act of 2007”. The bill passed out of the Senate Commerce, Labor and Agriculture Committee yesterday. The bill would remove a loophole from state law that allowed certain organizations and political candidates to make automated calls to households that are on the Do-Not-Call Register. “Several years ago, we created the Do-Not-Call Register to apply to businesses,” said Burchett. “It only makes sense that we limit ourselves as well.” The bill will now go to the Senate floor for action by the full Senate. ### |
