Black Honored for Support of Tennessee Electronic Library
Nashville, Tenn. – Sen. Diane Black (R-Gallatin) was recently presented an award from TENN-SHARE for her support of the Tennessee Electronic Library.
“I am truly grateful for this honor,” said Black. “I consider it a great privilege to serve in the State Senate, and I look forward to continue working hard to increase educational opportunities for the citizens of Tennessee.”
Established in 1992, TENN-SHARE, Inc. is made up of over 550 libraries and information agencies from across the state. Its mission is to provide “convenient and equitable access to library and information resources for all citizens of Tennessee to enhance the quality of their everyday lives, the depth of their educational experience, and the economic prosperity of their communities.”
The Tennessee Electronic Library is a collection of articles from reference books, magazines and journals arranged by subject in databases available to residents of Tennessee from any computer with online access – from home or from a computer in a public, school, college or university library.
After serving six years in the state House of Representatives, Black was elected to the State Senate in 2004. In 2007 she was elected Chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus. She serves on the Senate Finance, Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Judiciary Committee.
