Senator Black receives education “Statesman Award”
(NASHVILLE, TN), April 9, 2008 – State Senator Diane Black (R-Gallatin) has received the “Statesman Award” by the Tennessee Home Education Association (THEA). Black received the award on Tuesday in Nashville at a meeting attended by members of the organization statewide.
The group recognized Black for her efforts to access certain college scholarship funding and to make Tennessee’s system fairer for homeschool students. The award also thanked Black for working to keep the playing field level for home schooling families in Tennessee. “You maintain a gentle manner as you search for thorough resolution,” the award read.
Tennessee Home Education Association was founded by home educating families. The common purpose of these organizations is to protect the rights of home schoolers and to promote and strengthen home education within the state.
