Senator Black honored by TDDA community leaders

(NASHVILLE, TN), March 28, 2008  – State Senator Diane Black (R-Gallatin) has been recognized as "Legislator of the Year" by the Tennessee Development District Association (TDDA).  Black received the award on Wednesday at a luncheon in Nashville attended by members of the organization statewide.

The TDDA is an association of Tennessee's nine development districts, which are regional planning and economic development organizations.   These policy boards within each District are made up of the state's 95 Counties and 340 municipalities.  They assist local community organizations in a number of ways, including planning and economic development coordination, transportation, solid waste, loans and grants for water and sewer systems, housing, tourism, SBA loans, air quality and services to the elderly.

The awards are given on the basis of nominations from each of the nine development districts to those legislators who have shown leadership and put forth considerable effort on behalf of their cities and counties.  Black was the Senator chosen within the Greater Nashville Regional Council which encompasses Rutherford, Williamson, Wilson Davidson Trousdale, Sumner, Robertson, Cheatham, Dickson, Humphreys, Houston and Stewart Counties.
