Improvements slated for Westmoreland Intersection

(NASHVILLE, TN) -- State Senator Diane Black (R-Gallatin) and State Representative Mike McDonald (D-Portland) today announced the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) is moving forward to place a two-way left turn lane on SR6 in Westmoreland.  The lawmakers said the project could be completed as early as this summer.  The request for lane improvements was made by the Town Council of Westmoreland.

“We are pleased that the Department is moving forward on making improvements to this intersection,” said Sen. Black.  “This is a big step toward making this intersection safer.  We want to work with our local officials to make whatever changes are needed to improve the safety of this intersection.”

“The turn lane will help customers of businesses located in this area get out safely,” added Rep. McDonald.  “This project will not only improve the safety of these roads, but it will help the businesses located here, as well.  We are pleased that the Department has taken action on this project.

“These road projects are important to our legislative district and to the safety of our community.  I will continue to work for road improvements, along with other local leaders, for the benefit of our citizens,” McDonald concluded.
