(NASHVILLE), October 21 , 2011 – State Senator Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City) announced today that during the fiscal year 2021-2012 Washington County will receive approximately $233.8 million in state appropriations. Also, Washington County will receive a portion of the federal funds included in Tennessee's $30.8 billion budget as adopted by the 107th General Assembly.
Listed budget appropriations for Washington County in the following general categories are: $57.4 million for education (kindergarten through 12th grade); $16.2 million in shared state tax collections; $63.7 million for health and social services; $74.45 in economic development and higher education; $8.87 million for justice and public safety; $2.55 million for recreation and resources development; and $2.2 million for transportation and state highway projects.
“Overall, Washington County fared well in this budget year,” Crowe said.
The county-by-county statistics are prepared by the Office of Legislative Budget Analysis, which works in concert with state finance officials in gathering the detailed information.
