(NASHVILLE), October 20, 2011 – State Senator Rusty Crowe (R-Johnson City) announced today that during the fiscal year 2011-2012 Carter County will receive approximately $108.5 million in state appropriations. Also, Carter County will receive a portion of the federal funds included in Tennessee's $30.8 billion budget as adopted by the 107th General Assembly.
Listed budget appropriations for Carter County in the following general categories are: $39.5 million for education (kindergarten through 12th grade); $15.2 million in shared state tax collections; $31.278 million for health and social services; $2.8 in economic development and higher education; $15.7 million for justice and public safety; $2.65 million for recreation and resources development; and $1.26 million for transportation and state highway projects.
“Overall, Carter County fared well in this budget year,” Crowe said.
The county-by-county statistics are prepared by the Office of Legislative Budget Analysis, which works in concert with state finance officials in gathering the detailed information.
